Bring Your Chimney Up To Code & Keep It Safer & More Efficient With A Stainless Steel Liner

One of the most important components of any chimney system is the flue liner, which is what contains all of the gas, smoke, and heat produced by the fire itself and moves it swiftly up and out of the home via the chimney. But chimneys built before the 1920s typically lacked liners altogether, which resulted in a lot of problems, including chimney fires. For safety and performance reasons, flue liners are now required, and in order to bring older chimneys up to code, we install stainless steel liners.

Stainless steel liners have a few major benefits that make them a better option than aluminum or tile:

  • Stainless steel liners are all-fuel approved, which means, whether your appliance burns wood, gas, coal, pellets, or oil, a stainless steel liner can safely vent the appliance. Additionally, should you ever switch fuels in the future, as long as your liner has been well maintained and is the right size for the new appliance, you won’t have to deal with the cost and hassle of a reline. Aluminum, on the other hand, is not designed to vent wood appliances because of the temperatures that woodburning fires can reach.
  • Stainless steel liners come in a variety of sizes and can be flexible or rigid, which means they can be rather easily installed in chimneys of all sizes and shapes. Clay liners, on the other hand, can be very time and labor intensive to install and can require demolition and rebuild.

But chimneys built without liners aren’t the only chimneys that can benefit from a stainless steel liner. Stainless steel liners are also great options for chimneys with damaged clay tile liners. Instead of removing the damaged tiles and replacing them (which can be labor intensive and costly), we can simply slip a stainless steel liner down into your existing clay tile liner, saving you both time and money. And since stainless steel liners are corrosion resistant and carry a Lifetime Warranty when professionally installed and maintained, investing in a stainless steel liner is a smart choice for the long-term, not just the short-term!
