Keep Your Chimney In World-Class Condition With Indianapolis’s Experienced & Certified Chimney Professionals

If you live in Indianapolis, Noblesville, Lebanon, Geist, or another nearby community and you’re looking for a reliable, certified, and knowledgeable company to provide routine cleaning and inspection services and keep your chimney and fireplace working as safely and as effectively as possible, look no further. CinderBoxes’ chimney professionals are Chimney Safety Institute of America (CSIA)-certified, National Fireplace Institute (NFI) certified, and members of the National Chimney Sweep Guild (NCSG), and follow the National Fire Protection Association’s (NFPA) guidelines for sweepings and inspections. Whether it’s been a year or ten years since your last chimney inspection and sweeping, we can help by providing professional, affordable, thorough services.

Our techs use top-grade tools to effectively remove soot or other deposits from the components of the fireplace, stove, or insert, and will make sure any blockage or buildup inside of the flue is safely and effectively removed as well. We’ll look for damage, glazed creosote, cracks, holes, spalling, chimney leaks, and anything else that could compromise the enjoyment of your system, and provide you with a full report of our recommendations and findings so you have a record you can access at any time.

When Is It A Good Idea To Have Your Chimney Swept Or Inspected?

One question we get asked quite a bit is, “When should I have my chimney swept or inspected?” Well, both the CSIA and the NFPA recommend that every chimney system be inspected every single year, regardless of whether or not it’s used. Why? Because an inspection doesn’t just check for problems that could arise when the fireplace is in use — it also reveals problems like animal intruders, chimney leaks, and structural damage and threats.

Here at CinderBox Chimney Services, we offer both NFPA 211 level 1 and 2 inspections. Level 1 inspections are pretty standard and can suffice if you’ve religiously kept up with annual inspections. Level 2 inspections are a little more extensive and involve the use of a video camera scanning system that can reveal the condition of the flue’s interior. These inspections are recommended anytime you reline your flue, install a new appliance, switch fuels, experience a chimney fire or weather-related event that could damage your system, move into a new home, or notice a change in your system’s performance.

Chimney sweepings are a little less straightforward — you may not need to have one performed every single year. It really depends on how much use your system sees, what kind of fuel you’re burning, and your system itself. But if you’re keeping up with your annual inspections, you’ll know when it’s time to have your system swept because we’ll tell you!
